Clayfork Vineyard ‘Steely Dan’ shows another dimension to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It is a rich, tropical expression of the variety which doesn’t look like the Sauvignon Blancs typically seen from this region.

It has partial wild ferment and barrel ferment influence, with a rich long palate, but retains a freshness and clean finish on the palate unlike many of the alternative or old world influenced Sauvignon Blancs.

This single vineyard wine has fruit is sourced from the Clayfork Vineyard, high on the Waihopai Ridge. These clay soils impart richness, strength and dense tropical flavours. The resulting wine presents a nose of lemon and spice, with a viscous mid palate derived from fruit sweetness and lees stirring, balanced by fine tannins and natural acidity.
